Walking tour stop name: Trinity Church, 74 Trinity Place

Associated walking tour: Musical New York

Walking tour stop description: The building that currently occupies this site is the third Trinity Church to have been built here. The first building, dating from 1698, hosted frequent musical performances and featured a magnificent organ installed in 1741, but burned down in the fire of 1776. Its replacement, completed in 1790, was deemed structurally unsound and demolished. The third Trinity Church was completed in 1846. Musical performances in the church continue to this day.
