Walking tour stop description: The historic buildings around the Northeast corner of City Hall Park, including the Tweed Courthouse, the Federal Building and the Surrogate's Courthouse have been used for innumerable film and television shoots, especially those involving legal drama, municipal politics and such. Films like Kramer vs. Kramer (1979), The Verdict (1982), Great Expectations (1998), The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Ghostbusters (1984), Crocodile Dundee (1986), have filmed inside and outside of these buildings (sometimes using them to stand in for other buildings), as well as television dramas like Law & Order. One of the Civic Center buildings, the Surrogate's Courthouse on the Northwest Corner of Chambers Street and Centre Street, is a stop on the Musical New York walking tour.

This famous scene from Crocodile Dundee was filmed in the Federal Building colonnade.

In this clip from Ghostbusters we see the Ghostbusters leaving a meeting with the mayor of New York City, driving out of through the colonnade of the Federal Building, which doubles as City Hall in the film.

In this scene from Kramer vs. Kramer Ted Kramer (Dustin Hoffman) and Joana Kramer (Meryl Streep) arrive at the Tweed Courthouse for their custody case.

This scene from The Verdict was filmed inside the Tweed Courthouse, which doubles as a courthouse in Boston, where the film is set.
