TDC URBAN LETTERING TOUR WITH PAUL SHAW
DESCRIPTION
The type tours have visited every borough except Staten Island. This tour will rectify that oversight. We will meet at the Battery prior to boarding the Staten Island Ferry for a lovely trip across Upper New York Bay. On Staten Island we will look at lettering in the towns of St. George, Tompkinsville and Stapleton, taking the SIR (the Staten Island component of the New York City subway system) to travel between them.
Like all TDC type tours we are certain to find a wide range of lettering—from inscriptions in stone to neon bar signs to ghost signs to graffiti—at the Battery and on Staten Island. During the ferry crossing we will also have the opportunity to spot a few large signs in Brooklyn and New Jersey.
